APPLY TO JOIN SHORIN KEMPO KAIKAN

Joining Shorin Kempo represents a transformative opportunity for any martial arts dojo. As a family-based martial art based on a Khohi sempai system, Shorin Kempo emphasizes practicality and adaptability, allowing practitioners to evolve their skills in meaningful ways.

This unique focus not only fosters personal growth but also strengthens the community within each dojo. By amalgamating with Shorin Kempo, dojos can tap into a robust support system that prioritizes sustainability and the well-being of its members, making martial arts accessible to a broader audience.

One of the most appealing aspects of Shorin Kempo is its financial structure, which eliminates the burden of yearly fees for dojo operators. Since 2018, the organization has only required grading fees for students from Shodan upwards, also allowing dojo operators to retain 30% of these fees.

This model alleviates the financial strain often associated with traditional martial arts organizations, enabling dojos to invest in their growth and development. The only fee to join is a one-time $100 US, which grants a dojo lifetime licensing, as long as it adheres to the regulations of the Kaikan.

This approach not only fosters a sense of belonging but also encourages dojos to thrive without the fear of escalating costs. In addition to the financial benefits, Shorin Kempo emphasizes continuous learning and skill enhancement through its annual general meeting in Thailand.

This event allows branch chiefs to bring their students, partake in seminars, and deepen their understanding of the art. Such initiatives ensure that instructors continually refine their techniques and teaching methods, guaranteeing high-quality instruction for students.

This commitment to excellence not only strengthens the Shorin Kempo system but also enhances the technical abilities of instructors, ultimately benefiting all students as they receive a top-tier martial arts education. Through this amalgamation, dojos can look forward to a brighter future, enriched by a sense of community, financial stability, and a commitment to lifelong learning.

Joining Shorin Kempo offers a unique and enriching experience for dojo operators and their students. Upon becoming a member and registering a dojo, the Kaikan grants a three-year grace period to amalgamate your existing syllabus with that of Shorin Kempo. This integration is a straightforward process, as the Kumite Waza and bunkai share significant similarities with various full-contact Karate styles, including Kyokushin.

Shorin Kempo’s curriculum primarily consists of 3 kata, including one involving the bo, with many of these kata being easily adaptable for those familiar with Kyokushin and other full contact karate styles.

The kyu grades, which consist of eight levels leading to Shodan-ho, are relatively simple and mirror many other full-contact styles, making the transition smoother. Importantly, the Kaikan does not collect fees for kyu grades, allowing dojos to focus on training rather than financial burden.

For grading from Shodan upwards, however, a registration fee is applicable. Notably, from fifth dan onward, practitioners are recognized as Shihan or Masters, with no stripes displayed on the obi.

This signifies a commitment to lifelong learning and mastery, as the condition of the belt itself reflects the practitioner’s dedication rather than arbitrary stripes.
